Principles and Principals
Pictogram Studio was founded on New Year's Eve, 1988
by Steph Hooton and Hien Nguyen. Our resolution was, and continues to
be, to produce great work; be honest, true and professional; and have
fun. Today, after working together for twenty years, Steph and Hien's
commitment to
Prolific and easy-to-work-with, Steph and Hien excel in excellent design, photography and illustration. On products, in stadiums and around town, Steph and Hien's work has been seen in all walks of everyday life. Nordstrom, Mobil, Pampers, Sallie Mae and The Jimmy Carter Presidential Library are among the many happy clients who have utilized Steph and Hien's designs.
Steph and Hien's work has been represented in dozens of books and periodicals, including such national media venues as The CBS Evening News, The Washington Post and USA Today. Steph and Hien have received scores of awards, including a U.S. Presidential Award Hien received from former first lady Nancy Reagan for the excellent creative work he produced for the National Childwatch Campaign.
Steph has been a member of The American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) for over twenty years. Pictogram Studio abides by AIGA's Standards of Professional Practice.
In their spare time, you can find Steph and Hien in the classroom, teaching students to communicate through creative imagery, or out and about on adventures with their daughter, enjoying the company of their impish protégé.
